Meet Rookery Bay's New Featured Artist!

Dora's Rookery Bay Mural in Progress

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT: I’m so excited to be partnering with Friends of Rookery Bay during the upcoming season and to have the opportunity to use my art to help them support the Rookery Bay Reserve. Lots of exciting projects will be happening over the next nine months, including ‘sea turtle’ and ‘Rookery Bay’ inspired collections that will be featured in their Nature Store, exhibitions and special receptions.

First up: I am creating a large mural depicting our coastal treasure and the wildlife that call it home – I've already made quite a bit of progress! The "big reveal" will be Saturday, September 28 at their National Estuaries Day Celebration. This FREE event will include a touch tank, crafts, a documentary about Rookery Bay Reserve, live music, an art show, and displays from area environmental organizations. There will also be two food trucks, boat tours, kayaking, SUP and hands-on labs for junior scientists! (Space is limited so you should register at RookeryBay.org)

ALSO, be sure to follow me on Instagram and Facebook if you want to see daily updates on the mural!

About Rookery Bay

Located at the northern end of the Ten Thousand Islands on the gulf coast of Florida, the Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve represents one of the few remaining undisturbed mangrove estuaries in North America. It is one of 29 national estuarine research reserves in the nation designated to protect and study estuarine systems. The mission of the Friends of Rookery Bay is connecting people with southwest Florida's dynamic coastal environment in support of the Rookery Bay Reserve.
